In prehistoric times, the people of Jainkathi area of Patuakhali district, who were attacked by Portuguese pirates, were accustomed to live a simple and normal life. Fish and rice still occupy the first place in the food list, moreover, the people here speak the regional language of Barisal.

 

The geography and geographical location of the upazila has played a role in shaping the language and culture of the people of this upazila.

The culture spreads in different ways centering on boat rides, Baishakhi fairs, Poush Sankranti, Muharram fairs, etc.
